Son Doong Cave – Quang Binh Province
It is difficult to describe the spectacular beauty of Son Doong Cave. This cave belongs to the limestone cave area of Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh Province. The cave was discovered in 1991 by Ho Khanh, a local man.
In 2009, the British Caving Association made an exploration of Son Doong Cave. From that moment, the world knew that Vietnam also possessed a whole new beauty, a new discovery of a perfect natural cave system called Son Doong.
Son Doong Cave is 150 meters in width, more than 200 meters in height and at least 5 kilometers in length. The cave may be much deeper. With such a great area like that, Son Doong has become the largest natural cave in the world.
Inside this cave, the researchers also found an underground river, which is more than 2.5 kilometers in length, as well as some pillars of stalactites, which are over 70 meters high.
At every moment of discovering, every moment of observing the natural architect inside Son Doong Cave, you will never stop being surprised. The scenery of the Eden inside the cave, the giant wall of stalactites and stalagmites or the “pearl collection”, which is over a thousand years old, have such a strong attraction to the human beings. Son Doong Cave is certainly a charming destination, a mysterious underground world with a pristine and spectacular beauty that we have not fully explored yet.

Just as other caves, Phong Nha Cave also possesses unique limestone structures, which are named after their shapes, such as Su Tu (the lion), Ky Lan (the unicorn), Vo Chau, Cung Dinh (the palace) or Tuong Phat (the Buddha statue). Especially, there are some giant stalactites, which look like the teeth of the titans.

Trang An Cave system
Trang An, Ninh Binh is a favorite destination for many tourists thanks to the magnificent natural beauty of the picturesque landscape and spectacular caves. In this region, there are 31 lagoons, which connect with 48 caves. Some of those caves are more than two kilometers long such as Dia Linh Cave, Sinh Duoc Cave, May Cave. Each of them has a unique feature and beauty. Some of them are even recognized as archaeological relics.
Neither too sparkling nor too magnificent as Phong Nha Ke Bang Cave, the cave system of Trang An is still attractive and charming enough to make the tourists surprised.
Floating on a small ferry, you will pay a visit to 12 caves, of which total length is over 5 kilometers. You can feel the excitement once entering deeper into the caves. The longest cave here is about 350 – 400 meters long. The level of water is quite high; therefore, you must lower your head whenever the ferry goes through these areas. The more you enter the caves, the more you are surprised by the interesting structure of them. Some areas are so even and wide while some are very narrow, which are only wide enough for a small ferry to go through.
Besides, the charming stalactites and stalagmites inside the caves are also the living monuments for the flow of the time. This is also the reason why many tourists love this destination so much.
